Little Black Dress began as a dream for three Perth sisters in the summer of 1998.
The three girls had grown up performing together at various talent quests, weddings and family functions and had always talked about forming a professional vocal trio after completing their tertiary studies and settling in a full-time career.
Proud father, Bob Stevens, helped the group get started by funding the purchase of vital PA equipment, and the girls then embarked on a rigorous eight month rehearsal program.
Little Black Dress made an auspicious debut on the 7 August 1998 at Margeaux's Nightclub in the Perth Hilton. The audience loved the show and club management booked the girls for a regular Friday night gig that lasted through to mid November.
The rest, as they say, is history. In the years since their debut, Little Black Dress has gone from strength to strength and is now considered one of Perth's premier vocal performing groups.
In November 2001, the eldest of the three sisters, Tamara, was offered a position as CEO of the Australian Gold Council in Melbourne - a professional career move she could not turn down - leaving sisters Claire and Lydia to continue the magic.
The search began for a replacement, and resulted in the appointment of two new singers, Tenille Bamford and Lisa Reid, who after leaving two and three years later to pursue other interests were replaced by Marina Spadaccini and Kara Moran - all seasoned performers and talented vocalists.
Little Black Dress is now available as a duo or trio, with vocal solos also available on request. Sisters Claire and Lydia remain the driving force behind the group's success.
